I’m surprised he missed the other standard let-down – that since there is by definition no ‘year 0’ between 1 BC (Before Christ) and 1 AD (Anno Domini; the Year of our Lord), the millennium isn’t ‘officially’ until 2001.
Actually, given that it’s Stephan talking, I’m not surprised.
IIRC, the calendar got recalculated at one point (I think it was when they started the BCE/CE thing) replacing 1AD with 0AD and so on, so actually, it’s correct.
also, so what if the First Millenium was only 999 years?

gota laugh, a company I worked (now defunk) for blew February 29th two leap years in a row. The first time they simply ignored it the second they screwed up the algorithm. Third time they it right ;p
Well as someone who in his thirtys i can say…so far the last 18 years have been a mega letdown and this Millenium leaves much to be desired.
