No, that’s exactly right, since most of the ‘rules’ are made up, even purposefully invented. As a linguist I’m pretty glad for any expression which emphasizes this.
I thought Millie was a proud American! I won’t believe that Millie is allied with the Germans! I REFUSE to believe that she is a traitor!

For the record, I think calling people who are overly strict “nazis” is appropriate because the Nazis problem was that they were overly strict (see the Nuremberg defence of “I was just following orders”.),. And for rthe record I am Jewish, and my grandfather (whom I knew when I was younger) who was born and raised in Warsaw, lost most of his family during the holocaust.
Woo, so I neglect this blog, don’t I? I mostly figure news about what I’m doing is available elsewhere. …mostly I’m just bad at keeping up with details. But this is worth sharing: we’re close to a movie/TV thing with Nickelodeon! Read more →
So the Phoebe and Her Unicorn Amazon storefront, with apparel, backpacks, bags, and cushions, is open! We still have shirts on Topatoco, too. Read more →
So I’ve illustrated a picture book! Its co-author is young Maddox Lyons, a 12-year-old trans boy, and it’s about a little trans boy trying to be understood by his parents and the world. I think this is a wonderful project and I hope it opens some minds! It’s available to preorder now. Read more →

A friend of mine once said he considers the Grammar Nazis to be the ones who use poor grammar, because they’re actually the bad guys.
I bet he would have spelled the plural as “Grammar Nazi’s,” too.

This is my favorite Millie moment of all time.
If I am ever an English teacher, this is going on my door.
Is Avery wearing a Green Lantern shirt?
I wouldn’t be surprised. We’ve seen him reading comic books several times.
Ven Fraulein Millie says
It should be, ‘her and I’
Ve HEIL!
HEIL!
In Fraulein Millie’s eye!
Avery, say something about ATM machines and PIN numbers to Millie. Go ahead! 😀
Notice how Millie was insulted by being called “sometimes” weird.

I loved this strip so much that I linked to it with comments here: https://shlomif.livejournal.com/53966.html . This sparked an interesting discussion. I later on crossovered it with xkcd ( https://xkcd.com/406/ ) and Chuck Norris facts and the muppets here: https://www.shlomifish.org/humour/Muppets-Show-TNI/Summer-Glau-and-Chuck-Norris.html where Summer Glau and Chuck Norris are two ruthless Grammar Nazis who aim to unite Grammar Europe under the reign of The The Third Grammar Reich. (And is about as politically incorrect as I can get.).

Hoping my comment get through… 😀
