about what happens when I try to meditate, only I’m not flexible enough to scratch my ear with my foot.

Every now and then I try and my daughter looks at me like I’ve lost my mind.

Actually, I think this is how “enlightenment” happens. The meditative pose reduces stimulation causing the mind to wander. A bunch of thoughts get jumbled up, and from this the mind is able to extract a “truth”.

The problem with this is that the “truth” you receive is up to the whims of your wandering mind.

Nope; enlightenment comes to the stilled mind. The jumble of thoughts experienced by beginning meditators is an impediment to enlightenment which must be overcome before the student can progress.

Just let the mechanical mind run while you ignore it.

I know. I love furry strips where the characters are not just “guys in suits”.

I USED to be that flexible sorta…kinda…ish. Not anymore I’m afraid, too much blubber in all the wrong places (no insult to that walrus diplomat).
