Sadly and cynically, I have to totally agree. Mentions of “bipartisanship” generally boil down to “Do things my way!” And as for genuine bipartisanship, it has produced some absolutely terrible ideas.
Of course the problem is, to at least some degree, people standing by their friends. Because of conformity and stupidity, parties have gone from facilitating agreement and cooperation to enforcing unanimity on the kind of policy that leads to gridlock.
