  1. I know wuite a few languages, though chinese isn’t one of them, so I cant relatively define how a boot and bowling ball could sound slightly like items of food…

    • Well, to be entirely fair, if you don’t use the right tone chinese words can have radically different meanings. For example, the word you use to mark interrogation (ma) is pronounced the same way as horse (mǎ), but with a different tone. So while I’m far from fluent, that kind of mixup doesn’t sound too improbable.

    • True. Plus, I don’t necessarily find knowing the mundane explanation for something makes it any less wonderful. Knowing that something as simple as the refraction of sunlight through water droples can create something as beautiful as a rainbow is plenty magical enough for me.
