  1. An in between stage was religion. I think if I lived in one of those times, i’d prefer to be in a polyglot religion. That way if I see that a god has been angered I can still think the rest are on more or less friendly terms with me.

  2. There is “The Old Farmer’s Almanac”, a publication which is fairly accurate in predicting the upcoming year’s weather in the USA. And they use real scientific methods such as studying sunspot activity.

  3. Primitive isn’t the same thing as stupid. Ancient people may not have understood all the science behind weather, but they were perfectly capable of observing patterns and planning accordingly. Many ancient structures functioned as astronomical observatories, so people would know when to plant crops, and know when severe weather was most likely.
