By the way, totally tangentially, the words are really related. Fleur/fiord is (was) used in Romance languages for ‘finest’. So, there’s fleur de sel ‘finest salt’, and somehow English stuck with just the ‘flower’ part.
*fiore in Italian, fjord is another issue…
The Dutch word for flower and flour is bloem pronounced similar to bloom
The cookie only has leaves sticking out of it. What’s the rest of it made of?
