It’s called “creative procrastination”. You don’t want to do something, so you do something else that needs doing. Do that often enough and everything gets done that needs to be.
The trick is to trick yourself into thinking that something completely unimportant and easy is extremely necessary and hard.
I’ve been avoiding reading almost all of my e-mail for about two weeks, but I’ve gotten almost everything else done that I needed to do. Eventually, I’ll read the e-mail and put off something else.
