    • He can’t be, since the current Dalai Lama was still alive when this strip was posted and on the posting date of this comment. The next Dalai Lama will only be born when the current one, Tenzin Gyatso, passes away, although he has suggested he may not be reborn at all or at least not in China. It’s not like the office of Pope; it’s more like being the Avatar: there can only be one at a time, and the current one is the reincarnation of the previous one.

      • He has also suggested that he does not intend to be reborn as the next Dalai Lama, and that a different soul will take the job.

  1. Well, if she can grow some more tails and master some illusion magic, she’ll be way on her way to being a daemon at least.
She certainly has the high-octane crazy prankster part down.

      • Strictly speaking, using that spelling Kitsune are almost a type of daemon.

Since that’s the Greek spelling of the word, and refers to a type of animal spirit. Albeit those usually acted in a capacity very akin to guardian angels, not so much the trickster behavior of Kitsune.

  2. You are correct, Yageira. Kitsunes are Japanese fox-deities, which grow more tails as they grow in wisdom, age, and power. They can have up to nine tails. Daemons, on the other hand, are the semi-divine, Greek, humanoid, good versions of demons.
