Not just that, but a reverse-aging couch pirate.

Is she using ‘have an affair’ to just mean a short relationship? Because I didn’t get the impression she was married to someone else at the time…
Honestly, though, I sort of like the idea that she was. Not because it would be “good”, but because that’s not a history we see often in characters we’re meant to like, and creates an interesting moral quandary for her: “I know it was wrong and I shouldn’t have done it, but it also gave me Millie and I love her more than life itself (brattiness and all,) so I can’t exactly regret it either.”
It seems that “affair” has simply started to mean a sexual relationship that doesn’t result in marriage. That’s not the definition, but more and more the last decade, I’ve heard it used thusly.
