  1. Glasses are a huge pain in the rear end, honestly. People keep trying to convince me that I’m blessed with my awful eyesight. I beg to differ.

    • If that is where you put your glasses, your eyesight must be horrible indeed. A ‘huge pain’ would be right, I can only imagine, so don’t listen to those people, and be more careful in applying your spectacles.

    • Better than literally pressing glass against your eye every day, though. I seriously don’t get people who are so obsessed with not looking like they wear glasses that they’re willing to do that.

      • I wore contacts for years, and there are plenty of reasons besides vanity. They don’t fog up when you come inside on a cold day. They don’t need to be cleaned several times per day. They’re much less likely to fall off. Oh, and trying to wear prescription glasses under a full-face motorcycle helmet can be a giant nuisance. Plus, I do not handle bright sunlight well, and it’s impossible to get prescription glasses with a tint dark enough for me to function comfortably outdoors on a typical sunny day.
I finally got laser surgery a few years ago, so now I don’t have to worry about contacts or glasses. Except that I’m not getting any younger, and presbyopia sucks. I already have a pair of reading glasses for fine print, and I suspect I’m going to need them more and more in the future.

  2. Millie wants what I’ve desired all my life to be able to live without. Personally I hate glasses. Especially in a heavy rain. The water covers them and I can’t see a thing.

I’ll trade you Millie. I’ll take the 20/20 vision and you can deal with stumbling around in the mornings trying to find the alarm clock. lol

    • I find they help in rain: if the drops are hitting my glasses, they aren’t hitting my eyes.
But yeah, i’d still rather have 20/20

  3. If she really wanted, I bet she could get fake eyeglasses, like frames with non-prescription clear lenses.

  4. Pointless rant: I had 20/20 vision most of my life, no need for glasses. Then, one day in my late thirties, I looked up and noticed that I couldn’t read the exit sign across the building at the facility where I worked. I went to the optometrist and learned that I had become both nearsighted and farsighted with the passing years. I not only had to begin wearing glasses, I had to begin wearing bi-focals (would have been tri-focals, and, in fact, my safety glasses are tri-focals; but, since the middle lens is a neutral prescription, I refused to pay the higher price for my day-to-day glasses. I can look over the tops of the frames at my computer screen.)

  5. Millie, you can have my old ones- after I got my eyes lasered (no, Millie, I do not have laser vision), I never needed to wear them again, and it was the best thing I ever did.

  6. Millie, you should want minor nearsightedness in particular. Then you’ll be able to get by okay without them, but have a use for them. Because trust me, extreme farsightedness would not be fun.

  7. Speaking of glasses: do any dragons in this world have 20/20 vision? Every one we’ve seen to this point has worn glasses.

  8. There was that chinese dragon Ozy was talking to at the family reunion, and his uncle Alistair was only wearing sunglasses.

  9. No place has my prescription in stock. Astigmatism and nearsightedness. Forget “about an hour”.Can’t afford new frames so every few years, after the week it takes to get them in is over, I send them with someone who drops them off and for a day, until they get off, I can’t read, I can’t use the computer, and a roommate came in and said “boy, you really are nearsighted” because I was sitting almost within arms length of a fairly large TV… I have a prescription that’s about 3 ones before mine. Can get by. Sort of.
