I shall now attempt to post a comment so stupid, that it is obvious I’m not serious.
They transport planets and roman gods in trucks?
(groans audibly)
Actually, considering how toxic mercury is, this is a bit scarey.
And to think Mom let us play with the mercury from a broken thermometer.
Yup. When I was an undergraduate, we did a botany experiment to measure how long xylem (transport of water up from the roots) tubules were by attaching a mercury source to the cut end of a branch, then trimming the twig end until mercury flowed out. We each (in pairs, I think) had a branch, and quite a lot of mercury ended up on the floor. We did try to clean it all back up, but — the graduate student whose office that laboratory room was when it wasn’t being used for teaching had to be hospitalized from mercury poisoning. Last time *that* experiment was performed! True story.
Millie’s first hijack- oh, wait, she hijacked an ice cream truck when she was five.
