Gosh, that is a lot of work into lettering! I really like this strip, someone must be pretty proud to own it 🙂
Yes, but isn’t Isolde a dragon? So why doesn’t she have cool lettering in her name?
Isolde speaks more colloquially. I interpret different typefaces as different accents or ways of speaking.
She’ll learn once she has finished her internship, I guess.
The way I interpret it is that the lettering represents the era each of the dragons are from. In the future, I fear, Isolde’s letters will look fancy in comparison to the yet further simplified writing. Who knows, they might write completely in emoji. 😱
Yes, the fancy font represents the dragon accent. (possibly British) Isolde talks with the normal font because she was raised in the states and therefore has an american accent.
What is the name of the dragon? I think Smaug tends to go on all fours, so I don’t think it is him. Maybe Ancalagon (but the spots hint that he’s not black) or Glaurung?
What’s an American accent? I’ve heard so many.
I could sow chaos at 3% of my brainpower, Jim. (Or Tom, depending on what version of the show you remember. If you’re old enough to remember Name That Tune at all. Strangely, I remember watching it on TV years after the last version of it ended. No, I don’t count Name That Video.)
